Parchment
Craft Academy

The International Parchment Craft Academy (IPCA) makes it possible for people in different parts of the world to take a workshop or course in the beautiful Art of Parchment Craft. These courses are given by the IPCA trained teachers that are officially registered with Pergamano. There are over 2000 of these teachers now actively working world-wide teaching and demonstrating the craft. A registered Pergamano teacher is trained according to IPCA guidelines and need to pass an exam and receive the recognised certificate. Teachers can attain different levels at which they can teach others, for example the ones with the highest qualifications will be able to teacher others to not only learn the craft but to become a registered teacher themselves.

Becoming a Registered Teacher

You will have to start by taking a basic course from a Registered Pergamano teacher who will ensure that you have mastered the basic techniques to a high level. You will be required to start compiling a portfolio of your work which demonstrates your ability to master these techniques by various examples and pieces of work.

Once your teacher considers the portfolio to be completed to the required standard then the portfolio goes with an accompanying letter of motivation to the IPCA Co-ordinator for the UK. A personal contact will be made for your to express yourself verbally and if all goes well you will be invited to take the teacher training course with IPCA. The IPCA course not only covers techniques but practical advice on preparing lessons, organising courses and financial implications and arrangements.

As a Registered Pergamano Teacher you will receive a certificate, a teaching programme, a manual on setting out lessons, an official teachers pin, a registration on the IPCA database, listing on the Pergamano website, teacher’s information to keep you up-to-date with Pergamano products and developments.

Turning your hobby of Parchment Craft into a part-time or full-time job can be satisfying and rewarding and a great way to make new friends and meet people.
